cherry stone clock
counted in the flesh
stars that mattered,
green eyes of an August
moon appeared from afar,
flesh would not yield,
yet still firm redden moist
no mirror would disturb
the harmony,
yet a thousand hooks
would soon pierce
seek and find
that immense seduction
spoiling darkening flesh,
marked and bloomed
with mold a billion
years old,
consuming it to earth
fertile and subtle
leaf litter and sunlight
before the awkward frost,
for the moment it held on
time was precious.
This conjures up so many images for me…well done.

Mmm, this is lovely, Chris. Feels so light with liquid energy. I love the weight of the stars and the moment of leaf litter and sunlight. Very nice.
Wonderful imagery within subtle sensuality!
There is a subtle sensuality in this too. A lovely read.
The imagery is insane, thus making it perfect for a bipolar like me! Love reading your work my friend.
Thank you so kindly and the feeling is mutual being part of dVerse is great for the poets and poems i have found hope your day has been good my friend
Actually, I saw your work on Word Press. The important thing is that I saw it. Caring on, my friend.
Such a clever poem. It took me a while to get it – I am reading a lot today and eyes can start gliding, but this is just so clever from title to finish – to see the end of summer from cherry eye (or chary eye) so very very cool. You know I’m not a fan of non-punctuated lines typically but these work so well for the cherry. Terrific. k.
ps – stars that mattered such an amazing line. At first I think of important stars, now black holes. Just terrific. k.
nice….at one point it made me think of sun burn, then giving way to fall…the changes that happen…hey i have green eyes so..smiles….nice imagery man…
Thanks Brian and keep well
really liking the imagery and flow
The cusp of seasonal change and more evoked in the imagery and word sonics
some wonderful visions and feelings.
Loved all the images…enchanting, esp the green eyes of the moon. Beautiful poem!
Thank you and hope all is well
