Armour For The State

within that shuddering husk

of metal,

men close and coiled work

guiding , steering,

your mass of power,

engine notes reach crescendo

roar and gear change splutter,

front wheels turn leading the others,

tracks churn fields to dirt

scuff blacktop as positions found,

not created for human comfort

only to expel power and violence,

radio static

and your barrel roars,

a new cavalry that is not so easily

fallen,

when used by those who abuse such

power,

your offense so devastating,

beneath smoke and debris strewn

buildings,

cover from your scream sought

as second load expelled,

to see you

to touch you,

no urge to caress,

you are tangible as fear,

on TV,

a shape

silhouette menacing

for good or bad,

a sound definitive you make

we listen and shudder

  1. coconutspeak says:

Brilliant! Very visual to me. It will be a pleasure to follow your work.

  2. The repetition of ‘shudder’ is so effective here
