the santa is coming

nsa tinsel and filament devices
elves a watching facebook and twitter
the santa is coming
who has been naughty or nice
on sled pulled by drones
war on terror so far unfinished
bringing gifts to a hurting poor
low pay, taxation and what of medicare
food bank turkey in a suspicious world
ho ho ho
debt advice and feeling jolly
check the tree for gps and listening devices
holly wreath marks the door
apocalpyse around the corner
automatic rifle and several handguns
a thousand tins of beans
wal mart generation
in a generation x world
fattened wealthy bulls work the market
bonuses pour from the sky
the santa is coming
ho ho ho
with foreclosure signs
and spooks past and present
the santa is coming
you must feel joyful and triumphant
hand on heart god bless everyone
one and all
primaries and elections
next on elves agenda
so use your time
and think
what do you want

international christmas

feliz navidad

merry christmas

descent and decay

iron blanket drawn

over graveyards shoulder,

time grizzles in the wind,

on haunches leaving flowers

new ones that repair the vase

to a certain brightness,

tattooed hand

pores darkened by labor

fingers stained by cigarette,

a tear would not fall

enough had shown at the time,

those fingers took a kiss

pressed it to headstone

no inhibition

despite the rumors that had become

a fiction contorted on nights breath,

driven within hours

in a landscape changing

mesh of community falling

into disrepair,

his longing had seen violence

memory carried weapons

and he could only think of

retribution,

slate wiped of all marks

that defined a normal history,

he still had a key

that room there own,

now cleansed and let to someone

else,

he visited sometimes

walking amongst others possessions

picturing his own

and her blood

scarring the walls

Sunday Whirl, poems

a file cabinet on the east bound state road

six drawers of the universe

filled with life he could not leave behind

twenty year commitment gone,

thick neck and morning lit face

parked up station wagon

silver leaf scars rusting

doors with rattling windows,

behind a marriage gone like perspiration,

a third from the sun creature

pushed into the office

low humbled

shoulders shrugged into body,

grasped that file cabinet

dragged it to the door lifting carpet tiles,

tailgate flipped open,

company property someone shouted

another mentioned 911,

all other lives abandoned

this was all he had,

one last look

eyes like roses on granite,

pulled away

smearing rubber traces,

freeway surrounded by suburban houses

urban outcrops to his canyon

that became a void,

cassette music kept the corpses away

those corpses of the past

that seem to claw and linger,

a siren

was it for him,

tailgate flipped lock busted

as file cabinet slid progressively out,

braking hard

it dropped on blacktop

engine stalled

a dead bronze beetle

car horns swarmed about,

grunting stood upright that grey oblong

last piece of life

scuffed and scraped,

small key on his chain unlocked top drawer

took out a warm shaken bottle of whiskey

and the gun he kept here since his wife

became afraid,

sucked in air

climbed on top and sat crosslegged,

heaven had shadows that would not conceal him

as he waited,

bullhorn call on gentle breeze

curved outline of the day a flat surface,

and a smile so human appeared

angels at the pagan threshold

landscape seen by standing eye

on wind stripped rooftops edge,

answers pilgrims of nausea

fall as if from the depths of the sky,

horizon alone with forest

sun faced green silk and gold,

tracks of those who journey in faith

into the still of wooded glade,

within voices imagined

brambles pulled by enraged fingers

mess and tangle hide

that place used as a remote hope,

he should be there

pale faced

emotions a fountains stream

pleasure would not be found

with slackened vines,

this horizon embraced him

pulled into its complex afternoon

where time lie down

petal seconds fall,

chaos is not for choosing

sleep will not be heeded

as these files of thought

are put away,

staunched by class,

those in power jailers to tomorrow,

gas would fill indecent blue

and many more would fall,

for the sake

of secrets of kings

Sunday Whirl, poems

so fast to nostalgia

sleep had frozen her eyes,

pulling away a draft between them

limbs stretched unwound

gleaming wounds had healed,

away from window awake,

bathroom without light

under sink cupboard with bleach and mouthwash

a bottle of bourbon in reserve,

pushed door to a crack

sat on a closed toilet seat

without that gaping void beneath his backside

sipping from the bottle,

put a hand in his shorts

rolled his penis between thumb and forefinger

damp from her

and sniffed,

faint lights illuminated heart,

head twisted sideways located tissue

shame to dab away,

as if removing her fluid,

her scent it would all end,

four years together,

she had guided him through a dry silence

concentration and love filled

earth and sky

as a solitary he would be unable to dance

and lament in lengthy boredom,

instead he stopped

stood lifting seat

dropped tissue in

pissed a long stream on continuity,

bourbon safely away,

new swarms changed names of thoughts,

into the bedroom

sprawled uneven she lay

at the window clutched the moon

and drew it back in

to be with them

a smile softer than his lips normally allow,

then settled alongside her

pointers from the flesh notebook

clever blue eyed clock

measuring the width of harm

in ratchet clicks so solemn ,

childhood had finished

you saw to  that

overtook my heart with years

as firm shrouding

growing up was a facility

in the forest where only some

belonged,

and i did not want to go there

it was a sentence

a finish

even ultimatum

to those near expiry date

flesh baggage creased and folded

eyes as dim bulbs,

i was the one on the bicycle

wishing to go past

shouting at the top of my voice

yet something broke the wheels

and i was left at the path

sat crosslegged wondering,

one woman with a cart lopsided

and one eyed horse offered me a lift

and i refused despite

silky touch of mane

as horse nuzzled my hand,

i was broken not forgotten

resisting time as an armed guerilla,

i would fight

and there would be casualties

fireproof monkey

elastic bound thoughts

contracted as  would a boiled egg

overdone,

helios hepped on jazz

found the stroke of sidewalk

blocks of bars and strip joints,

mind breathing everything

eyes registering the glass windows

of long to come

tomorrows,

when her kiss come

buick grille jaws of hell,

elastic could not tighten

anymore flared with worms

and a solitary fly,

noise flushed red of wanton art,

could i be a titan

writhing on that couch

with string hearted blonde

ivory lonely care

without tending priests,

poor dumb altar

with genius of my soul

her and my footsteps

made us kings and queens

of the carnival

and slumberers of the

dreary city doorways

dverselogo

carcasses when broken

words pressed to my forehead

ready to explode,

winters long wait for suns awakening,

there is no lamb in a killers eyes,

transmit feeling with each moment

breathing

knowledge escaping,

the future is out of it’s cage

unsure unsteady,

dandelion clocks dispel

it is worlds end

lighthouse of the precipice ,

word pressure tighter,

saliva wet in the mouth

like kisses from a hungry dog,

broken waves are heard

noise visible on open window,

human that feeling and being

cannot be sold,

those words are hurting

urging through skin

cracking skull bone,

my brain resists

textured ripe as an open fruit

solid as that sweet nut of pleasure,

i will continue

and watch you go adrift

on the longest wave

beyond beacon light,

nine thoughts exposed

from heaven

intermittent pulses

a cruel birth as i watch in silence,

forgetting that the past had been

imprinted with us,

this place with meadow near

would fall into ruin

without us

multiple coincidences

unfathomable satin pillow of sky

over city my coeval,

traffic noise curtains billowed

as i lay in the comfort

with only my own breath

sounding out,

bedclothes scattered wadded

into masses on that blue carpet,

timing had been the measure,

this was my place

no motel with bleak neon,

i could consume my life

in whatever way i wanted

without intervention or lust on time,

a fly would hover

before i found yesterdays news

to roll and crush that fragile

gossamer winged creature,

she had not quite gone

her touch left indentations beyond

fingerprints visible on my skin

pressure points that excited

to that blazing exclusion of my mind

nebulous shimmer near

opaque evaporation,

my vision light and molecules

on the retina,

i was more absorbed by my feelings

that the sound that cut into my life

of tires losing grip

metal impacting on interstate collision

noise and destruction

someones life consigned to a slab,

i did not move

tingling fingers and toes

aware of sirens

the knocking of eager fists

pounded

then a torch shone

locating life in my eyes,

the road had claimed her

of that i was sure,

now my bed

within this city

my coeval,

we had lengthened shadows

together

now i lay still
