wishing for moist stringy

damp exchange stream,

deliver/

with his palette knife

excise flesh and society,

knead out the fleshy dough

breasts that bare themselves

to him

for signature and kiss,

ice/

rivets many to the spot

they stand,

exclusive voyeurs to insanity

and flagrant erotic exchange,

an orgy beyond the point

of isolation and intimacy,

a swirl of texture

and color,

witnesses to the end

Cruel Ideas

on flammable wings,

cigarette sears

till crushed paper stem,

anthologize those words

expressing deeper resonance,

ashtray full,

critical insect scattering

itself about the table,

unconcerned,

only for the journal

and words contained,

glasses pinching eyes

now reddened,

how many coffees

a breeze touched his face

butterfly fell,

still now on sidewalk

unprepared for this

immediate cruelty,

he looked again

at his journal,

those left handed

surges of ink,

had they meaning

and if so

would anybody care

Tranquilized Anticipation

he shared his spine with a burden,

gathered from the dawn

any brilliance the sun had shown

pushed unevenly into sack,

leaving a dark blankness

made out of the best material,

various tones of illumination would

not seep through,

spine arched aching

soul knew no such liberty

it had been love and liquor,

was once two side by side,

fevered in a dry throated way

from this darkness whispers

gathered and grew,

there is no borrowed sunshine

it is all packed away

and we must want,

for one day blossoms with the 

color of dawn,

that loving spot my infancy

once knew,

bent as a sleeping brow

spine shuddered at some point

that burden would be unloaded,

to give quiet oceans

and a lingering day
