An Owlet Calls
hospital sounds occurred as
limp wires stretched to where she lay
quiet
body traumatised by the crash
she would scar , she would heal
away without him
her abuser,possessor , nightmare husband
a moth glimmered in her eye
how did it get in
then seemed to grow
expanding into something larger
she managed a smile
as it settled upon her
she sighed
it’s body pressing on top
a noctuidae
face bearded wise
antenna folded, she wanted to touch
trying to speak intubated
a gargling slur of nothing
I will protect you
it seemed to say
a fair exchange would be
probiscus probing pressing
her vein rich neck
flowing with oxygenated life
it pierced her flesh gently
a soft penetration
unlike others experienced
she would be safe
the owlet moth said so
quiet
she slept

Christmas Spectacular
home
mersey moonlight and shine
across the hills
to river dee,
wind whispers
in the trees and grass,
of park
and shipyard sinew,
bricks of sweat and toil,
urban sprawl,
where smugglers coins
fell to sand,
lighthouse flickers
seen by little eye,
sandstone tremors
and gentle veil of mist,
i feel home
cradled by the lake
and shivering masts
of a yachting few

interested in gynaecology
are you a pedestrian
crossing that narrow inlet
of water,
once tormented by salmon
quick flickering to spawn,
no cars or vehicles
yet still you walk,
with a wake about your boots
head down,
light was changing,
and that thread of thought
was anchoring your brow down,
a kiss has a momentum
beyond the lips
carried on a narrow breath
that would never
bring you to a standstill,
salt on eyelashes
cast by the sea
tainting tongue
drying lips,
once clear
return to the cottage
owned by our cities
last blind man,
and wait at the glass
